The gardens of Dr. William Blair are tucked away in a woodland setting, nestled on the south slope of a hillside along the Iowa River valley.  The heart of the gardens is defined by a small prairie restoration project.  Limestone walls and stairways define curving, elevated flowerbeds. Stone walkways and grassy paths guide visitors through and around multiple beds of daylilies, hostas and native plant species.

The emphasis of the gardens, though, remains the tetraploid daylily.  The gardens feature more than 250 registered plants, breeding stock, and thousands of seedlings in different stages of maturity and evaluation.
