Located about ten miles north of Davenport in Long Grove, Iowa, Keith and Sally Riewerts’ home is surrounded by several mature bur oak trees, which provide a shady haven to more than 150 hosta, but also enough sunny spaces for multiple daylily beds, in which are found more than 200 daylily cultivars. A wide variety of beautiful blooms are to be seen as the Riewerts have been growing daylilies for more than 40 years. Many additional perennials and annuals accompany the featured daylilies, ranging from woodland wildflowers such as Galearis spectabilis (showy orchid) to a number of interesting ferns and, of course, Sally’s favorite Impatiens borders.
